Let me familiarize you with this wickedly fun concept from Outnet that is akin to a cyber-version of Price Is Right: the clock starts ticking when the sale starts – the price continues to drop – and you wait to see how low the price will go, and then hope it’s still available when you’re ready to purchase. Too soon – and you pay too much!! Too late – and you don’t get it at all!!
Today @ 12pm: Alexander McQueen Print Clutch - retails for $540 – bright blue and white satin crystal-print clutch with silver-tone hardware. If anyone is in Miami this weekend, here are a few fun activities that you can participate in…if you choose:
- Whiskey and Vodka Cupcakes at Klutch
- The folks behind boozy NY cupcake bar/hipster hang The Eldridge are setting up shop at Klutch for a night of baked-goods-fueled debauchery (one of your three favorite types of debauchery). On the menu: a whiskey-and-espresso cupcake paired with an espresso martini, or an apple-vodka-and-cinnamon cupcake paired with a red-apple martini. Leave your testosterone at the door.
- 411: Feb 5, 9pm-4am, Klutch, 136 Collins Ave, 305-531-4643
- A Little Bit of Vegas in South Beach
- With all the high rollers and random celebs in town for the big game, the city is starting to feel a lot like Vegas. It’s fitting, then, that Venetian mega-club Tao will be setting up camp at the W tomorrow night for a blockbuster soiree that will extend from the pool to Wall. Look for five DJs and a guest list that includes Adam Sandler and—wait for it—Lance Bass.
- 411: Feb 5, 10pm-4am, W South Beach, 2201 Collins Ave, 305-938-3000

On Super Sunday, haute Louisiana haunt Acadiana is trading its three-course dinner and white-tablecloth service for flat-screens, pitchers of beer and all-you-can-eat New Orleans fare. Think oysters, boiled shrimp, Cajun wings, meat pies and beignets. And if your coin toss prop bet doesn’t come in, there’s plenty of absinthe.
411: Feb. 7, 5pm – the final whistle, $29pp, Acadiana, 901 New York Ave NW, 202-408-8848 to reserve
[Compliments of Urban Daddy]
Some people have all the luck — and I’m not sure if I’m talking about the sale or the weather right now! But if we’re talking shopping, then the San Fran savvy set has it!

Well, courtesy of W San Francisco, “just do it”!
In honor of Valentine’s, W San Francisco is offering a Vegas-inspired pop-up chapel where spontaneously love-struck couples can take part in anything from a vow renewal to a legally binding marriage. Even if you’re not the marrying kind, you’ll want to stop by for some gratis bubbly and free marital aids from Jimmyjane. Use both in moderation.
411: Feb 14, 4-7pm, W San Francisco, RSVP here
If you have a chance, here are a couple spots to check out on Valentine’s Day…with your ‘better half’ or by your lonesome:
- We’re all for exotic aphrodisiacs, but rhino horn presents so many issues (potential bedroom messes, for one). So rely on an old standby: booze. Crazy cocktails like the Tuscan French 75 (fennel-infused gin and bubbly) and Rose Water Sparkler (sparkling Riesling and rose water) are just the thing to pair with a crepe built for two—though a fork built for two would be kind of cool.
-
Italians: fine people, fine beverages, heroic when it comes to romantic brunches. Tocco, that pink-and-black, Milan-by-way-of-Wicker Park spot proves that they have a sparkle too: they’re debuting a new brunch featuring Nutella and marmalade crepes, ricotta and eggs, and Italian sausage omelets. And to wash it down, you’ll finally have access to their fine prosecco collection before dinner.
-
- Boutique Warehouse Sale (DC only): lots of boutiques including Bloomers, The Shoe Hive, Treat, Mint Condition, Pink & Brown, and others; Feb. 6, 9am – 3pm; George Washington Masonic Memorial (101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria, VA) [women, children, accessories]
- Ann Taylor: $39.50 sweater sale…because we all use them and need them so, why not get them for less!? [women]
- Shopbop: almost 300 designer items at 70% off….the recession won’t last forever so, you should plan to look good during and when its over! [women]
- Magaschoni: terrific designer that makes “basically fabulous” pieces that last forever…..at RueLaLa now [women]

While every week could be a beer week, San Francisco has taken it another step and proclaimed, “Beer Week” and it kicks off on February 5th. There are undoubtedly tons of specials but, we’re highlighting a few fun ones:
- 4 Chefs, 2 Breweries, 1 Dinner at Bar Tartine
- A feast ranging from confit of veal tongue to Thunderpussy ice cream (we won’t tell you what’s in that) prepared by Chez Panisse vet chefs is appetizing enough. Add brews from Magnolia as well as a roster of Dogfish Head beers never before poured on the West Coast, and you’ve got one amazing dinner
-
Feb 8, two seatings at 6pm and 9pm, $100, Bar Tartine, 561 Valencia St, tickets here
-
Can-A-Palooza at 21st Amendment
-
You can expect 21A’s IPA and Watermelon Wheat by the can on Monday—all for $2 each. Other brews in the lightweight, shatterproof container lineup include pale and brown ales from Oskar Blues, Anderson Valley, Buckbean, Uncommon and Big Sky. Think of them like kegs, only single-serve
-
Feb 8, 5-8pm, 21st Amendment Brewery, 563 Second St,
-
-
A Night Without Hops at Monk’s Kettle
-
The only abbey brewery in the US will be pouring three unhopped beers at Monk’s Kettle. They’ll pit these brews flavored with redwood tips, bergamot and mugwort against a cask of Misspent Youth (their hoppiest pale ale, and the story of your life). Cedar-plank seared scallops will be on hand for pairing, though you can never go wrong with the giant pretzel with cheddar ale sauce
-
Feb 9, 5-8pm, Monk’s Kettle, 3141 16th St,
-
-
Beer Ice Creams at Humphry Slocombe
-
If this weekend’s Guinness Ginger Bread Ice Cream was any indication, the guys at Humphry Slocombe have a way with churning up tasty beer-laden ice creams. To honor Beer Week they’ll turn two dozen craft brews into new flavors and release them over the course of the week…slow and steady like a morphine drip
-
Feb 5-14, noon-9pm, Humphry Slocombe, 2790 Harrison St

I’m Monica and anyone who knows me knows that I have grown up surrounded by style, fashion and personality! So, while I took a fairly circuitous route, I’m back where I belong.
