Men’s Top Stylish Must-Haves for the Holidays

posted by Blueprint on December 14, 2009

We combed the websites and mags to distill all of the noise into something slightly more melodious.  This list has nothing new and inventive rather just those items any debonair man-about-town needs to get from work to Holiday party to the next function.

The goal of our list to provide the mid-range of items with the understanding that you can spend less and still get the desired effect, or send your game into overdrive and blow quite a bit more cash!

  1. Cuff Links: every guy needs a pair of cuff links (and a French-cuff shirt….dah).  Keep them simple like these by David Donohue ($125).
  2. Duffle Bag: if you’re going from work to drinks to your girls house and then to a couple Holiday parties, you’ll need to carry everything in a respectable bag.  This Jack Spade unmarked, black duffel ($295) is ideal.
  3. Festive tie: (read: Holiday-spirited not cartoonish) to keep it seasonal yet stylish, simply stick with the representative colors of the season, red or green.  We loved this understated red/white striped number by Vittorio J ($150 before discount).
  4. Party-worthy shoes: the best shoes we’ve seen are these Ted Baker Patamon ($175)…done!
  5. Hat: it’s winter and with the exception of the South and far West, bundling up is essential to partying sniffle-free.  This tweed newsboy cap ($30) by Country Gentlemen fits the bill perfectly.  Focus on something close to the head.
  6. Wallet: you’re giving up all those dollars for nice gifts…just doesn’t look right to pull out something tatered and war-torn.  You’re supposed to treat your money right if it’s going to treat you right…try this Ettinger billfold ($140) for starters.
  7. Boxer/briefs: whether you go boxers to have lots of breathing room or briefs to keep everything in check, Blueprint opts for the best of both worlds with boxer briefs.  Commonly tauted as the best, Calvin Klein underwear ($24) keep it simple.
  8. Scarf: keep the ‘hawk’ at bay with a stylish scarf.  This double-faced scarf by Polo ($54) is great because the camel and mission blue coloring lend themselves to use with just about any color coat or jacket!
  9. Travel Shoe Bag: it’s just nasty to place your well-trodden shoes with your shirt or suit or the likes.  These simple but effective Travel shoe bags ($14) are a no-brainer!!
